Buy now you are thinking of all the things it could be, and I am sure you have figured out what I am talking about. Time being the most delicate thing in existents would also be the most dangers to play with. A time machine would be so dangers but the only person that would be the one that went back and changed any little thing. See that only thing I could think of that might be good would be if the time machine would be if you could not existed it and just watch, but at the same time if the time machine would set down or disturb any thing around it, starting a chain reaction but we not being in the time machine would never know.
But if it were possible time travel that is we could prove with out a doubt what really happened. The only true word is the one of being there. We have history yes I do not doubt that but what history dose not give us is all the truth only speculation. We now little peaces of history but what we really don't know is the truth, not being there seeing it for are own eyes and leavening it for others to intrepid for us may leave things out.
Now I am not writing this for any particular reason nothing more then the thought, the thought in witch I started some time ago. If we could with out a doubt prove things what ever they may have been or are. May it be religion or a battle fought a long time ago. How much would it change us to know for are sure what really happened in the past?

Dr.john-- if you were to take Hitler and Stalin out of the picture you would radically alter what is now, buy changing such a large peace of history you would have no way of knowing what the future would hold. For all any of might know you would erase your self or love ones just buy changing one thing that has happened.
You might want to rethink this.
Isaac Asimov has a great short story on the idea of a temporal viewer called 'The Dead Past' and it explains quite clearly the impact a machine that could be used to view the past would have on privacy...scary stuff! And quite prescient given what has happened now that there are so many 'live webcam shows' today and so many people addicted to voyeuristic viewing of other's lives...

I Love Green Olives--- I was not speaking of going back in time to watch my grate grate grandfather shoot a dear, I was speaking along the lines of historians going back and seeing what really happened in Rome, or seeing why stone hedge was built. It would not be something any one would have the ability to use, that in it self would be reckless.
